Why can’t I vote during the screening?

Modified last: 2 days ago

If you can’t vote during the screening, it’s most likely due to a poor or blocked internet connection on your mobile device.

If you're seeing a "Ready for screening" screen but can’t vote when the film starts, the issue is usually caused by connectivity problems with your mobile device. Here’s how to troubleshoot and fix it:

  • Check QR code recognition
Make sure you’ve successfully scanned the QR code shown on the cinema screen using the CtrlMovie app. After scanning, the screen should change to "Ready for screening."

  • Observe screen dimming
When the movie starts, your smartphone screen should dim. If it doesn’t, the app may not have received the necessary sync signal.

  • Verify internet connection
A stable internet connection is required for syncing with the film. Some cinemas have poor reception for certain networks. Try switching to Wi-Fi if available.

  • Disable Airplane Mode
Ensure your phone is not in Airplane Mode, which disables all network communication.

  • Check mobile data
Confirm that your data plan hasn’t run out and that mobile data is enabled.

  • Try a different device
If problems persist, try joining with another phone or tablet to rule out device-specific issues.

Please note: CtrlMovie relies on an active internet connection throughout the screening. Unfortunately, if a cinema has poor mobile reception and no Wi-Fi, there’s little we can do to improve the situation.
